Multisensory Effects in Experiential Theme Attractions

Themed attractions, museums and other experiential environments continue to compete to remain on the cutting edge with the newest forms of entertainment. But more than just capitalizing on visual and auditory thrills, a new focus area is integrating sensory effects to take things to the next level. SensoryCo has worked with entertainment venues around the world to integrate specialized sensory elements within multisensory experiences.

One of the most innovative entertainment facilities is SEGA Orbi in Japan. The first attraction of its kind, Orbi fuses the cutting edge technology of SEGA with the BBC Earth’s world-leading content to provide a supercharged multisensory experience in a theater setting. The theater and walk-through attractions combine stunning visuals with touch, smell, and sound for an astounding interactive journey.

Mountain Gorilla in Volcanoes National Park (Rwanda)

SensoryCo delivers unique scents to help create the feeling of being part of the scene. Within the multisensory environment, visitors “lose themselves” in the experience. Imagine walking through the Mountain Gorilla exhibit…crisp visuals, hi-fidelity surround sound, and then your nose starts to twitch. You actually smell the scents of the jungle – wet and green.

Similarly, in The Magic of Yellowstone, your eyes focus on the spectacular visuals of the world’s first national park. As you begin to see an array of images of your nose detects the sulfuric smell of volcanic activity. You may not even distinctly notice these details as your mind unconsciously combines them to help you believe you are actually in Yellowstone. Nearby, you walk into a stampeding herd, smelling dust and grass while seeing the dust rise around you. The multisensory stimuli continue to bring you into the scene in other exhibits, combining visuals of an arctic iceberg crashing into the ocean as Koolfog fog effects swirl around, simulating the mist of the ocean spray.

The combination of cutting edge technology with spectacular visual and additional unexpected sensory stimulation truly makes this attraction unique, creating this supercharged nature experience. SensoryCo is a proud collaborator providing distinctive scent and spray effects along with Koolfog fog effects. We worked closely with the designers, Edwards Technologies, Inc. to create and provide the essential scents and other sensory effects that enhance this exceptional interactive experience. We are committed to being on the cutting edge of new advances in multisensory effects in experiential theme attractions as well as other areas of innovation including experiential marketing, atmospheric effects at concerts and other live events and more.
