Client Case Study: XYZ Technologies
Summary:
SensoryCo is proud to have collaborated with international multi-media production powerhouse XYZ Technologies on several projects including Palava 9D, an immersive project for a real estate development company Lodha Group in Mumbai, India. XYZ’s innovative team created a “wow” experience for its Palava sales center that resulted in a state-of-the-art interactive model of Lodha’s vision for Palava. The 9D experience combines computer-generated 3D images, virtual reality, a moving seat system, scent generation and a whirlwind of special effects. The combined power of these sensorial elements creates an experience that is both unique and memorable. SensoryCo technologies were integrated into the design for the simulation of atmospheric effects, including rain, storm, and smell, for a successful and immersive multi-sensory experience.
Project Description:
The animated 6.5 m x 4.5 m model immerses the visitor in a fascinating 5-minute presentation followed by a 15-minute interactive session that lets future residents know a bit more about the innovative community concept that Palava proposes. The pairing of the 3D video mapping with the stage design elements creates a unique experience that captivates the audience’s interest while incorporating powerful communication tools. The installation clearly explains the concepts behind this incredible development known as “India’s most livable city” and invites visitors to the center to join an amazing community that boasts exceptional quality of life. Palava 9D is a world-first. The ultrarealistic system leverages creativity and technology to provide a sneak peek into this true city of the future.
Production Details:
The interactive features of the program make uses of four senses – sight, hearing, smell, and touch – in this simulated walk-through by boat, foot, golf cart and helicopter.
A moving seat system synced to a preprogrammed grid developed in collaboration with D-Box, combined with virtual reality headsets, makes it possible to feel the movements on water (boat), through the air (drone and parachute jump) and over land (golf cart). Added to the experience were scent diffusers, special effects, wind generators and misting devices activated at specific points in the virtual tour to highlight the realism of the immersive experience.
The overall effect needed to capture the truly unique character of Palava. The challenge was to convey the excitement of this futuristic community and make it tangible for potential residents.
Reproducing the plans for an entire city development in 3D, based on architectural plans and specifications, was also a major feat, as was the technical setup in a relatively small space.
SensoryCo Contribution: Scent & Mist Special Atmospheric Effects
XYZ collaborated with SensoryCo per AV design specifications and allowed the team to integrate artistic and technical elements in the simulation of atmospheric effects for the Palava Project. The sensory effects enhanced this XYZ’s project by creating an exceptional immersive and multi-sensory experience using mist and scent to leave a lasting impression on visitors to the Palava sales office.
SensoryCo Technical Details
The scent effects are layered into the experience using a SensoryCo large-space ambient scent delivery system. Scents like leather, ocean, and fruit market are each triggered using the scenting system’s built-in DMX interface so that the scents and the immersive content are completely synchronized.
For the misting effects, SensoryCo partnered with sister company Koolfog to deliver high-pressure fog to the environment. Placing nozzles overhead, the fog system allows a client to produce “misting” effects without significant wetting to the environment. The high-pressure effects are activated by making use of relay inputs to the pump control.
