SensoryCo provided scent machines and curated scents to complement the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Off-Road Simulation for Aspen X—Winter Games 2024. The project was managed by Lumen & Forge: Immersive Technology Integrators in collaboration with Inspira Marketing and the Astronaut’s Guild. This DOME experience brought the best design and production concepts together for a complete immersive multi-sensory experience for one of America’s leading automotive brands.
Scent Machines at The DOME:
Lumen & Forge constructed a 30′ geodesic, augmented reality, dome to house the state-of-the-art projection technology. The interior included 18 motion-activated heated leather seats to simulate the Jeep driving experience. The 360° visuals were complimented by scents, sounds and sensations for a fully immersive, custom 4D theater. The dome was designed so the projection system was invisible to guests making a transparent simulation for visitors to engage. A custom projection rig consisted of ten 5K lumen HD laser projectors, blended and warped into a seamless 4K UHD 360° screen. A 5.1 Adam audio sound system ensured guests heard every detail while scent machines and fans completed the realistic 4D experience. The dome’s design, inspired by the iconic Jeep brand, adds to the adventurous ambiance, creating a memorable experience that perfectly complements the excitement of the Winter Games.

Scent: Atmospheric Special Effects
Visitors are immersed in a multi-sensory adventure that combines the rugged spirit of the Jeep Wrangler with the high-energy atmosphere of the Winter Games. Inside the dome, guests are treated to a 4D cinematic experience that simulates the thrill of off-road driving in a Rubicon, complete with dynamic motion seats, wind, and scent effects. The visuals showcase breathtaking snowy landscapes and intense off-road challenges synchronized with SensoryCo’s scents including Pine Needle, Cedar Wood, and Dusty Grass.
SensoryCo’s scent delivery was selected for the suitability to enhance the experiential marketing promotion, enhancing the realism of the simulation creating an environment where guests can smell the action. The scents allow guests to feel even more connected to the virtual environment. For example, visitors might catch the earthy scent of pine trees as they “drive” through a forested area or the fresh, crisp smell of a new glade of grass peeping from the snow. This use of smell, along with motion effects, adds an extra layer of immersion to the audience experience.
SensoryCo Technical Details:
The Lumen and Forge project at Aspen X-Games used two SmX1 scent machines with aromas such as Pine Needle and Dusty Grass. Scent units were placed at the front of the theater and made use of fans that were placed for wind effects and leveraged for quick distribution of the scents.
